Access and Inclusion Statement

At Paronella Park, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the magic of our gardens, history, and story—regardless of age, ability, or background. We are committed to creating an environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and accessible for all.

Our ongoing Access and Inclusion initiatives include:

  • Improved Physical Access: We are continually working to enhance wheelchair-friendly paths, provide accessible bathrooms, install ramps, and offer assistance for visitors navigating the Park.

  • Sensory Support: We offer a free audio guide app, large-print materials on request, and are working toward implementing tactile and braille maps. Quiet spaces are also available for those needing a break from sensory stimulation.

  • Cultural Inclusion: We provide multilingual materials, inclusive staff training, and aim to reflect and celebrate cultural diversity - including engagement with local Indigenous communities.

  • Education for All: Through discounted admission, tailored educational programs, and community outreach, we strive to ensure everyone has access to the Park’s story and experience.

  • Staff Awareness: Our team receives regular training in accessibility and inclusion to ensure we can offer personalised, respectful assistance to all our guests.

  • Continuous Improvement: We actively seek feedback from our visitors and regularly review our practices to make sure we’re meeting evolving needs.

We know there’s always more we can do, and we’re committed to listening, learning, and improving. If you have any questions about accessibility or suggestions on how we can do better, we welcome your feedback.

Physical Accessibility

Paronella Park was built in the 1920's, long before today's accessibility standards. We try very hard to make the Park as accessible as possible for as many people as possible, but please contact our team if you have any specific questions.

  • We have widened paths to make them wheelchair-accessible. There is some steep terrain and gravel pathways. There is also a 47 step Grand Staircase to get to the lower grounds. If you (or with the help of a carer) are able to get in and out of a vehicle, our team can transport you in our SUV to help bypass the stairs. We can also carry your wheelchair or mobility equipment in the back of the vehicle.

  • There are accessible toilets near the Cafe.

  • There is Ramp access to the main entrance and cafe.

  • There is accessible parking next to the entrance. Alternatively, you can drop off right at the front door and park elsewhere if you prefer. There is a ramp into the main entrance.

  • Transport or assistance is available for visitors who find steep terrain challenging. If you (or with the help of a carer) are able to get in and out of a vehicle, our team can transport you in our SUV to help bypass the stairs. We can also carry your wheelchair or mobility equipment in the back of the vehicle. Please talk to our friendly team!

  • Feel free to contact us ahead of time if you have further questions!
